    Machu Picchu es una de las maravillas arqueológicas del mundo, una ciudadela que permaneció oculta ante los conquistadores españoles, cuya existencia fue revelada al mundo occidental en 1911 por el explorador norteamericano Hiram Bingham.  No sólo algunas de sus construcciones de piedra son de calidad comparable a las mejores construcciones de los incas sino Machu Picchu y especialmente Huayna Picchu asombran por su ubicación en lo alto de cerros rodeado de profundos abismos. Pero lo más asombroso es la planificación urbana detallada que incluye los sistemas de agua y desagüe que están en la base de los edificios lo que implica un elaborado diseño de ingeniería previo.

   En esta sección incluímos espectaculares imágenes de Machu Picchu tomadas por el fotógrafo de Tarma Antonio Gómez. Algunas son vistas panorámicas tomadas desde el gigante Huayna Picchu y desde el Intipunko o "Portada del Sol", y otras son novedosas vistas en detalle de Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu y de las poco conocidas ruinas de IntipunKu.

    Machupicchu is one of the archaeological wonders of the world, a citadel that remained hidden to the Spanish conquerors, whose existence was revealed to the western world in 1911 by the North American explorer Hiram Bingham.  Not only are some of its stone constructions of comparable quality to the best constructions of the Incas but Machu Picchu and specially Wayna Picchu are astonishing due to their location at the top of hills surrounded by deep abysses. But most astonishing is the detailed urban planning that includes water supply and disposal systems that are in the base of the buildings implying a previous and  sophisticated engineering design.

    In this section we include spectacular images of Machu Picchu taken by the photographer Antonio Gomez, a native of Tarma. Some are panoramic views taken from the top of the Wayna Picchu giant and from the IntipunKu or "Portal of the Sun", and also there are many original views of details of Machu Picchu, Wayna Picchu and of the little known IntipunKu ruins.
